Chemical peels, in pricing terms
Peels and price lists in brief
A chemical peel is a skin treatment, and it is one of the treatments this site looked for when comparing med spa menus in Redmond and Bellevue. This page does not try to teach the chemistry. Clinical sources do that better, and they are linked below. What it adds is the pricing side: what the words "chemical peel" can mean on a price list, and what to ask before a quote means anything.
Why one line on a price list can hide several treatments
The Cleveland Clinic overview of chemical peels is titled around types of peels, conditions treated and what to expect. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons page on chemical peels and its longer guide to what you need to know cover the same subject from the plastic surgery side. The ASDS page on peels for sun-damaged skin looks at one specific use.
Because the first source talks about types, a single line reading "chemical peel" may not tell you which peel you are being quoted. Two clinics can both list a peel and still be pricing different things. Take your time with that before you compare numbers.
Questions to settle before you compare prices
- Which peel is being quoted, by name?
- Is the price for one session or for a package of sessions?
- Does the quote include the consultation, aftercare products or follow-up visits, or are those extra?
Two quotes only compare when the answers to these match.
From reading to asking
Read one of the sources above so the clinic's answers make sense to you. Then ask each clinic you are considering for the peel's name and what the price includes, and ask for it in writing. Put the answers side by side before you decide.
Chemistry is a clinician's subject
This site writes about peel pricing rather than peel chemistry, so which peel suits your skin is a question for a licensed provider who has examined it.
